Holland McCombs papers, 1853-1991.

This collection consists of Holland McCombs' extensive personal and subject files which contain six decades of research materials and correspondence. The collection contains book and article drafts, interview notes, photographs, artifacts and various items related to the life and work of Holland McCombs. The significant items in the collection are: the John F. Kennedy assassignation records, the trial and hearing notes of Jack Ruby's incarceration, the research notes and drafts to Tom Lea's "King Ranch" and Diane Smith's "Armstrong Chronicle", historical information relating to Texas and ranching, the stories of his youth in Martin, Tennessee, and reports issued by McCombs while he was a reporter in Central and South America in the 1930's and 1940's. Included in the collection are the letters and photographs of the McCombs, Holland, and Freeman families dating back to the 1850's.
